Eco Transfers - Costa del Sol - FAQ

Eco Transfers Costa del Sol, run a flexible, reliable, private taxi and minibus airport transfer service covering the Costa del Sol region of Spain, using only fully licensed transfer vehicles and always providing exceptional rates for all of our clients. Here are some of the questions we are most frequently asked about our service and our reply.

Q: How do I pay for my Private Taxi or Minibus transfer?
A: Online airport transfer bookings use PayPal and can be paid using a Credit Card, or PayPal account. As an alternative payment must be made in cash (Euros) or Credit card, to your driver, inside the transfer vehicle.

Q: I need a transfer within the next 12 hours. Can I book it online?
A: Yes, you can book a last minute airport transfer online up to 12 hours before you require them..Or call our office and speak to us in person, we will always fit you in, if we can!

Q: Are your Taxis and Minibuses fully licensed and insured?
A: Yes, all our transfer vehicles and those of our partners, are fully licensed by the Local Spanish Authority, holding an up to date Tarjeta De Transporte license (public service license). The vehicles are fully insured for full passenger liability coverage, and strictly observe public license operating regulations.
Passenger safety is of utmost concern. Kindly be careful of illegal taxi transfer advertisers as there are a number of them openly operating without licenses and liability insurance.

Q: Are the fares fully inclusive or will I be asked for extra charges by the driver?
All transfer fares are all pre arranged with you (a tip is voluntary), so, there is no haggling with the Taxi/Minibus driver and no unpleasant surprises when you reach you holiday destination.
The price that appears on the booking form when you make your reservation, or the price that we agree, is the price that you pay to your driver... NO HIDDEN EXTRAS!

Q: Can you provide baby seats and booster seats?
Yes we can! Both baby seats and booster seats can be easily selected on our online booking for under "Other Details". You can also specify the age of your child and how many seats you need. They will be pre-fitted in the vehicle for your transfer. This service is provided free of charge.

Can I book a return transfer in Spain?
Yes you can book a return transfer in Spain either by on line reservation or verbally with your driver.

How can I cancel or make amendments to my already booked transfer?
You can do so easily by emailing us at info@ecotransferscostadelsol.com giving us your reservation Number and details, or use the online amendments form.. More Info on amendments

What if my flight is delayed?
All flights are constantly monitored so your transfer driver will be at Malaga Airport to collect you when you arrive, so that you can start your holiday. If your flight is delayed there is no need to worry about paying costly waiting time as we will be aware of any delay.

Where will the Taxi/ Minibus driver meet me?
You will be met at the Main Arrivals Hall at Malaga Airport. He will have an A4 Size placard in his hand showing the Lead Passengers Name, easily identifiable. All other meeting points in specific places (Hotels, Villas etc.) can be specified on the online booking form. Our drivers know the local area very well and will get you to your destination safely and soundly.

Which terminal at Malaga Airport?
In short, you will normally exit Malaga Airport at Terminal 3. All European flights now arrive at Malaga Airport's new terminal 3, although during busy times, some flights are occasionally diverted to Terminal 1. Your Taxi/Minibus driver will be pre-warned of this and meet you in the right place on your arrival.

Will my transfer driver help me with my luggage?
Absolutely! You don't need to struggle with your luggage at Malaga Airport, or on arrival to your holiday destination, as the driver is always happy to help you.

Will I have to share the Taxi/Minibus with others who are not in my party?
No, when you reserve a transfers vehicle with us, no matter whether it is a 4 passenger Taxi car, 7 passenger Microbus, 12 passenger Minibus, or coach  the vehicle is exclusively yours!

Will my entire luggage fit in my transfer Taxi/Minibus?
Generally, standard Taxis can carry around three to four medium to large sized suitcases. If your luggage would exceed this, we would suggest you upgrade to a minibus, as it is illegal in Spain to tie the boot of a vehicle down. There is no luggage restriction on Minibuses. Kindly indicate if there is an excess of baggage and we will make sure to send the right transfer vehicle to accommodate it.

Can I smoke in the airport Taxi / Minibus?
We are sorry to say that, all public service vehicles in Spain are non smoking by law. It is also now illegal to smoke in Bars, Clubs and indoor public places in Spain.

Does the transfer vehicle stop en route?
No, all transfers are direct from door to door. Your private Taxi / Minibus driver will only stop in case of emergency, or if requested otherwise. We will use the quickest route from Malaga Airport to get you to your destination, in as little time as possible.

I am considering between Malaga Airport transfers and Car Hire.
If you are unsure, or have never driven on Spanish roads before, then we strongly suggest private transfers as the better option.. More Information
I  have heard there are many illegal Taxi operators around Malaga Airport. Is that true? How can I be sure that the transfer service I use is legal ?

Please note that the Taxi/Private Hire laws in Spain are very strict. There are numerous illegal Companies on the Costa del Sol openly advertising on the internet as legitimate Taxi/Transfer companies. There are also apartment owners & letting agencies offering cheap transfers, these are also illegal and there can be real problems in the event of any accident. Malaga Airport is patrolled continuously by the police & government inspectors looking for illegal transfer people.

If a Transfer driver asks to meet you anywhere apart from the designated area in the arrivals terminal, they will be illegal, (even if they use the excuse that this is due to building work), their vehicles will also not be insured for passenger liability cover.

You should remember that if stopped by the Guardia Civil (State Police) the vehicle would be confiscated immediately leaving you stranded. A vehicle that is licensed will have an SP Plate (Public Service), authorised by the Transport Ministry. A copy of "TARJETA DE TRANSPORTE" (Company's Transport Card), is available on all our vehicles for your security, hence making your transfer legal and in comfort.
